Matrix Revolutions-- Do not read if you haven't seen it!!!

What did you guys think?

I have to say that I was a bit disappointed-- still a good movie, but just not up to the standards of the prior two. There were some cool scenes (the nightclub and the battle for the dock in Zion), but overall I felt that something was missing. Not enough Neo whipping ass in the matrix, perhaps. The final fight with Smith was a bit over-the-top, too. Just seemed kinda cheesy to me. Oh well.

I thought the 2nd one sucked - not gonna fork over my hard-earned dollars for the 3rd. Gimme about 50 years to try to sort out just what the hell was going on in #2.

I liked the 2nd one; it certainly wasn't as innovative or conceptually deep as the original, but it was still a great movie, IMO. Obviously, plot and character development was sacrificed for action in Reloaded, but man, those action scenes were good. All in all, I thought Reloaded was a worthy successor-- Revolutions was really not, IMO.

The first was the best because we didn't know what to expect, the second was visually stunning, and the third just left me hanging with the story line. I just don't understand what happens at the end of the movie. Still, the effects were amazing. What did you think of the punch neo threw at agent smith. pretty fuckin cool!

I was a little disappointed also. It was a quality movie, but I thought the first one set a standard, the second one exceeded that standard. I was expecting another unique jump in the plot and the special effects and it just wasn't there. Maybe they should have waited to release the third.

The second one was nonsense, wading through piles of Agent Smiths and what not - it was more a comedy than anything else. I was expecting a line of Agent Smiths to run on screen in boxers and black socks, an old lady chasing them with a rolling pin and the Benny Hill theme playing in the background. How long can you sit there and watch Neo beat up the next Agent Smith?

I also was diasppointed. I didn't like how much time the movie spent in the "real world" when the whole coolness of the Matrix was built by doing god-like stuff in the Matrix. I just expected a little more, and was let down by the ending..

I too was disappointed with Revolutions.

Live action Japanimation, my friends. That's all this series turned out to be.

Just like Japanimation movies, it started out really interesting and grabbed you with it's unique action sequences and points of view. A crazy, mind bending plot leaves you wondering what's going to happen next? Then about 1/2 way through, you realize the plot never stops expanding and they're introducing characters like mad and you can barely keep up with it all and damn these are some cool scenes!!! Then it leads up to some rediculously cataclysmic clash at the end with the good guy winning (and most often dying). And then they roll credits, regardless of whether or not they've tied up any plot lines or made any sense or use of the characters they've introduced.

The brothers who made this film admit to being heavy into Asian films, including Japanimation and the more I look at the plot of the entire 3 movies, the more I see the exact same model used.

The first two movies kicked ass. I loved them and I'll still watch them over and over (I still catch it on TNT or TBS or whatever station it is that runs it repeatedly and I always find myself watching it till the end). I'll probably own the 3rd but rarely watch it.

The dock fight scene was DA BOMB baby! I remember when I went to see the Return of the Jedi. The scene where the Rebels arrive at the Death Star to find the entire Empire fleet waiting for them. I couldn't believe all the ships on the screen! It was a swarm of starships and laser beams and explosions!!! I was overwhelmed and LOVED it. The dock fight scene blew that scene away hands down. The only people who wouldn't enjoy that scene are just those who get uncomfortable when they're overstimulated. It reminded me of any 80's era video game when the difficulty level would just reach LUDICROUS level and you couldn't even keep track of the things you were supposed to shoot there were so many. Awsome. Who cares if I didn't give a shit whether or not Zion survived?

I thought Revolutions has the worst martial arts scenes of the series. I was also disappointed with the final confrontation (even though it was the cataclysmic event I expected). And so who the hell is Neo? Life? Love? Choice? All three? And is anyone really any better off for escaping the Matrix? No offense, but now that I've seen Zion, I'd rather stay plugged in. I wouldn't know any better. And when Neo and Trinity crashed, head first, how in the hell did she get thrown backwards into a pile of steel rods? Does physics not apply to humans in the real world?

At least they're both dead now.

I take comfort in knowing my good ending will be coming next month when they release The Return of the King. I already know how that ends and I can't wait to see it anyway.

I thought the movie was okay... hard to keep the the same kind of mojo from the 1st movie in a series to the 3rd... but I give credit to the brothers for wrapping it all up and hopefully won't carry on...

which leads me to my thought on the movie... it was a "wrap up" movie... seemingly summing it all up with two simple concepts... "all ya need is love" and the "power of free will." I felt left short with the action I was expecting... I felt like I was watching a sequel to Independence Day rather than Matrix... Clay was right... too much in the real world and not enough in the Matrix... certainly not enough fight scenes and yes, the final fight was.. well.. so typical of American action movies... I do appreciate the brothers keeping with Neo being "the one" but was surprised and how he ended up "becoming" the one... that is the sacraficial lamb abosorbing all that was wrong or evil in the world and then dying... certain religious tones.. didn;t the source say something like, "it is done..." felt like at that point I was reading the story of Christ... seeing Neo all spread out like he was on the cross...

the movie seemed campy to me... lost the edge that seperated the Matrix from all the rest... but what can you do when you have created a monster in Matrix 1 and 2...

so I will throw out this question: all else being equal (era the most) which threesome was better? Matrix 1 - 3 or Star Wars 4 - 6? I'll have to think about that one...

Star Wars 4-6 (New Hope, Empire, Jedi) beat everything, IMO, even though, much like the third Matrix, Jedi was far weaker than its predecessors. Empire is still my favorite movie of all time. I remember seeing that as a kid-- when Vader told Luke that he was his father I wanted to cry (actually, I probably did).
