I don't vote because I don't agree with our corrupt legislative process in which money and lobbyists buy laws. By not voting, I displayed my contempt for a system that no longer works. In effect, I voted (along with 150 million+ other Americans) that the system isn't working anymore and we need to start over - a civilized alternative to violent revolution, you might say. I won't endorse our current political system by taking part in it's ritualistic "voting" process that perpetuates the confused American notion that "the people" are still in charge of this country.

If I ever did vote - it would be Libertarian. The only way I ever see Libertarians showing up at the polls is if there were a way to vote "I don't want a President" on the ballot. If that were a selection in 2008 - I garauntee Libs would show up in DROVES to vote.

The fact that I have to look at this clueless chimp for 4 more years sickens me. I'm not saying Kerry would have been any better, but one thing's for sure - he wouldn't be Bush.

I am SOOOOOOOOOO tired of hearing about terrorism. My only experience with terrorism is the liberty-limiting security restraints that hinder my life now. I've never thought about terrorism. I never cared about terrorism. I certainly don't worry about terrorism. But somehow, terrorism has become a national priority. Terrorism has become the "common foe". The fact that medical costs continue to rise at 5 times the rate of inflation doesn't seem to bother anyone. Tax rates at 1/3 of a working person's income? No problem. A social security system on the brink of collapse and 30 million baby-boomers set to retire in the next 5 years? Big deal.

Nope, my biggest problem is terrorism. I've never been within 1,000 miles of it, but it's my biggest problem. If someone wants to trade his life for mine, there's NOTHING anyone can do about it short of taking away all personal freedoms. I fear my own government now FAR more than I fear any terrorist.

To think this buffoon was re-elected because the uninformed hillbilly hog-sloppers in Pigs Knuckle, Arkansas see W. as the type of guy they'd run into at the local feed store, or the bait shop.

I could go on for 30 pages on this topic.

Judeo-Christian values at their finest. Amazing how Clinton's incident, or for that matter two consenting adults of the same sex who want to share insurance benefits, are more threatening to our way of life than killing 10s of thousands of innocent Iraqis.

This would be Post of the Day on any of my other sites.

I am still absolutely astounded that there isn't more uproar about the Patriot Act. I, for one, sure as hell don't want the FBI to be able to enter my house without my knowledge or a warrant because someone somewhere thought that I might be connected to terrorism. The abuses of peoples' rights being committed today in the name of the war on terror are way more threatening to America than the terrorists themselves. When American citizens can be held without charges, trial, or legal representation in a military prison for years things are very wrong. When enemy combatants captured in battle are not afforded their Geneva convention rights because they might be terrorists (even though captured defending their own country from invasion), something is very wrong. Scary shit, folks...

In 50 years, if the earth is still around, we're going to look back and laugh at ourselves for the way we acted after 9/11.

I think tears and embarassment are more likely.

Too much social Darwinism inherent in the Libs' platform for my taste, not to mention my issues with the lack of any form of gun control. Big government is certainly not the answer to society's ills, but neither is letting everyone fend for themselves. I'm probably way too idealistic for my own good.

God, you guys would have a field day on the chat board I frequent. The bible-thumpinest, Bush-backinest bunch of kool-aid drinkers I've ever run across. Here's a particularly intesresting statement that received many kudos from like-minded conservatives:

I NEVER thought I'd say this, but, I'd take Clinton back in a heartbeat.

Hey, we Podunks take offense :)

Yeah, what's that say about our country that we choose the guy we see as being less intelligent?

As an English teacher, I can't have any respect for a man who chooses NOT to read. For shame.

Having heard him speak so many times, I can't help wondering if he even can read.

Address, please. I'd love to go stir up some shit. Quite a few members of the God Squad in the footballguys Free For All that are quite easy to tweak, too (as well as the high and mighty Joe Bryant himself). Several of my aliases (aliai?) are under lifetime ban there for various unsensitive remarks...

Don't get me wrong. Kerry's a limousine liberal and I can't relate to that either.

Why can't it be just some normal Joe. If the democrats would have just plopped a middle-class guy with common-sense who works for a living in front of the American people, he would have been elected. Just nominate some guy that people can relate to, rather than an oil baron's son or corporate heir lawyer.

Amen. That is really the true problem here. None of these guys have ever lived in the real world or had to really work for a living. Anyone believing that there isn't a hereditary power elite in this country is kidding themselves.

Say what you will about Bill Clinton, but you have to respect him as someone who worked his way up from nothing. Nothing was handed to him based on who his parents are. My Life makes pretty good reading-- I'd recommend it. Real life rags-to-riches story there and some good inspiration, regardless of how one feels about the man politically or personally.
